나로우주센터, 폭발 사고 겪은 누리호 엔진 첫 공개 전시

전라남도 고흥에 있는 나로우주센터 우주과학관에서 특별한 전시가 시작되었다. 폭발 사고를 겪은 누리호 엔진 실물이 이번에 처음으로 공개되었다. 이 엔진은 2020년 5월 연소 시험 중 시동 명령 직후 폭발한 75톤급 엔진이다. 원래 이 엔진은 누리호 2단부에 사용될 예정이었던 인증시험용 엔진이었다. 한국항공우주연구원이 개발 과정에서 손상된 엔진을 공개한 것은 이번이 처음이다. 이 전시는 한국이 독자적으로 발사체를 개발하는 과정에서 겪은 성과와 시행착오를 함께 보여주기 위해 마련되었다.
Translation
A special exhibition has begun at the Space Science Museum of the Naro Space Center in Goheung, Jeollanam-do. For the first time, the actual Nuri rocket engine that suffered an explosion accident is being publicly displayed. This is a 75-ton-class engine that exploded right after the ignition command during a combustion test in May 2020. Originally, this engine was a certification-test engine that had been scheduled for use in the second stage of the Nuri rocket. This is the first time the Korea Aerospace Research Institute has publicly displayed an engine that was damaged during development. The exhibition was arranged to show together both the achievements and the trial and error involved in Korea's process of developing its own independent launch vehicle.
